Tigran Kostandyan
Tigran Kostandyan is an Armenian architect, designer, researcher, and sometimes educator based in New York. He currently works as a Senior Architect at Mariam Issoufou Architects, a sustainability and social justice-focused practice headquartered in Niamey, Niger. Tigran’s work is rooted in critical thinking about sustainability in architecture beyond buildings; his research and writing examine supply chains, propaganda narratives, extraction regimes, and environmental systems, and how these forces reorganize land, labor, and ultimately architecture. Working across architectural practice and exhibition design, he has contributed to projects in New York, Sharjah, and Dubai, including Sharjah Art Biennial 14, the Sharjah Architecture Triennial, and buildings across Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Tigran is a founding member of Future Trajectories, an architectural collective investigating the entanglements of ecology, colonial histories, and spatial politics through design and critical research. He was a Strelka Institute Terraforming Fellow (2020), a GSAPP Incubator Prize recipient (2024), and an Art OMI resident (2025).
