Flip is a modular furniture system that can transform from a seating landscape to a wall. Flip addresses a unique spatial requirement and supports Colabs programmatic needs. Colab aims to host various events that may require a wall separating the public sidewalk and the storefront. However, when events are not taking place, Colab would like to create a seating area that is open and accessible to the community of the Dubai Design District (D3). Flip is comprised of 15 units. When laid flat they come together to create a continuous landscape of seating that provides a heterotopia of public space accessible to the D3 community. During the events, the 15 units will be flipped transforming them into 15 modular walls that provide privacy for the CoLab.
